Towering inferno update

Oops I did it again. But this time it went better.

Remember the massive flames from my last close encounter with the barbecue grill? Well I worked up the courage (took more than a week) to pull out that explosive bag of charcoal and give it another shot. The directions on the bag call for about 40 briquettes, but I CAREFULLY counted out 30. I cautiously took the lighter and applied the flame to two briquettes. And just like before, the flames took off immediately and soon the whole thing was involved. But since I had used less charcoal, the flames were not as high, and I was not as worried about the awning. My husband suggested I use about 25 briquettes next time and that should make it just about right. I did purchase a charcoal chimney, now I just need to find the proper charcoal/wood chips for it. I saw several bags but they all called for using starter/lighter fluid. I figure if I am going to add lighter fluid, I may as well use the quick-start charcoal (sparingly). Who knew it could be this complicated??? The steaks I cooked turned out great. The eggplant left a little to be desired, so I guess I need to read up on grilling eggplant. Not as easy as asparagus.

I think you should try 100.

Just for the sake of science.

Sure - how about I come to your house and try it on your patio??? Of course, the fire chief does live in my neighborhood - so I guess I could have him on stand-by. I'll let you know how it goes. ;)
